Ahoy maties!
I'm here with an update on my eye situation for those who are wondering. As you know, I'd made up my mind to have cornea transplant surgery starting with my left eye to try and correct my keratoconus. My eye dr. over in Dothan had told me it was my only option because of the advanced stage of my condition. I was terrified and it took me a year of gradually worsening vision to finally accept I would have to take the plunge and have the surgery. My poor vision had begun impacting my everyday life and becoming endlessly frustrating and sometimes downright depressing. So I called to discuss with the dr. and was told the price range and all, and Niek decided to begun a fundraiser to try and get up some of the funds needed for the surgery in Dothan.
I had no intention of getting a second opinion because I couldn't afford to be going anywhere else, but my dad wasn't happy. He did some research and found the Gulani Vision Institute in Jacksonville, Fl. This doctor is known worldwide for his work, especially his work involving keratoconus. My dad set up a consultation and so we went in for an appointment. They did extensive eye testing with some crazy gadgets I've never seen before (along with the ones we've all seen before) and when the doctor saw me he explained that my keratoconus has indeed become very advanced, especially in my left eye. He was angry at my other doctor for telling me a transplant was my last option, and told me about another surgery that involves inserting little implants into the cornea. From what I understand these little lenses will act as a sort of brace and help to correct my vision. I'll probably still have to wear glasses or contacts, but heck, I'll take it! Anything will be better than what I'm dealing with now.
The trouble is that the cost is higher. However, my fundraising goal will remain the same, and the money raised will still go toward this surgery. My father is looking into how he can help, and any other options we may have for coming up with the funds.
So... the news is good in that I'll be able to have another, less risky surgery instead of a cornea transplant. Thank you everyone for your good thoughts and prayers! I'll keep you updated.
Here's the fundraising page in case anyone would like to donate, or share the page: www.gofundme.com/89mnf0 But please don't feel obligated
And that's it for now, I reckon... I still haven't done any art. I haven't even tried but I would still like to.
I hope yall are all doing well. Much love!

Some life updates
So, even though I've checked in a bit, I haven't been very active here in a long time. I realized that I never posted the news that my grandmother, for whom I was the caregiver, passed away in January of this year. I'd spent over four years taking care of her (and for the first year, my grandfather too). I've made peace with it now and I'm ok. I still think about her often. I've been unemployed since then, and I've been trying to do commissions but my focus and energy levels are so erratic that I can't feasibly do that for steady income. With prices rising like they are I'm going to have to find a job to support what my hubby brings in. But until I do, I might start offering outfit adoptables here to help a bit. I haven't done much designing and I miss it. Even though I'm unemployed I still seem to stay busy. I'm still managing my anxiety and depression as best I can, but just like my energy levels its up and down. I'm working on art commissions from twitter but its slow going.

I'm alive!
Hey folks! I just realized I haven't posted a new journal since Christmas D: I'm alive, just staying busy. I'm more active on Twitter these days than anywhere else online. Sadly that means my messages here pile up and become overwhelming... so please forgive the lack of comments on deviations. I promise to get to them all as soon as I can!
I love y'all and I hope you're all doing well  If you have time, do drop me a comment below and let me know what you've been up to!

The lesson to take away from all this: Always do the research into alternates! I'm glad there's something better than a risky transplant. Good luck with the fundraiser!
